Teen Bookfest by the Bay is a non-profit organization that was created in 2014 by local librarians. Story time! Librarians Debbie Van Zandt and Ana Lisa Lawhon each chaperoned groups of kids to the Austin Teen Bookfest in September 2012. They each expressed to all who would listen the need for a festival in Corpus Christi. A mutual friend arranged a meeting between them, and Teen Bookfest was born! Since 2015, we have offered a free book festival geared towards middle and high school students and all who love reading YA. It is our mission to bring young adults in contact with published authors and illustrators. Our goal is to increase the enjoyment and pleasure of reading and to encourage those who have a desire to write.
